Day 3. HCMC 1.11.24

After a few hours sleep we headed down for breakfast, which is included in our room cost. A very good variety of food. We all met at 8am ready to explore on foot. Greg and Wendy did another great job of showing us the sights. Walked ~8kms.

Motor cyclists all lined up ready to go.

Crazy traffic.

Stopped for refreshments at Highlands Coffee besidetheSaigon River. The above mural was on the wall.

Heli pad, sticking out like a dinner plate.
We went to the 49th floor. The views were spectacular. HCMC/Saigon is a very large city, way bigger than I thought.

Part of the traditional dress display.

Halloween display
More views from the 49th floor.

A couple of very thin but deep buildings maximising the use of limited space.
Opera house.
Tribute to the Sputnik.

Beautiful ceiling inside.
The Metropolitan building, built in the 1920s.                        Read more about it here        https://saigonmetropolitan.com/about-us/

After lunch we all did our own thing for a few hours. After showers and a bit of a rest Mark and I went for a little wander to find a coffee. A couple of pics below from our short wander. It was 33 degrees.

We wandered through the market across from our hotel but didn't stay long as I wasn't enjoying the smells.

Footpaths=bike parking lot.
Another wander to a food hall to have some dinner.

Today we have walked ~12 kms.
Not sure what the temperature got to but I do recall seeing 33° on my phone.

  1. Looks interesting crossing the road. I hope your cycling trip starts outside of the city.
