Day 11. Quang Ngai. 9.11.24

Day 7 of the cycling tour, 60+ kms.

'After breakfast at the hotel, we transfer about 30km, Cycle through back roads Qui Nhon where we have lunch at a local restaurant; transfer the rest way to Quang Ngai. Overnight in Quang Ngai city.'

A quick wander across the road to the beach before breakfast.

We didn't really stick to the itinerary. We rode from the hotel for 37kms, stopping for photo opportunities and a coffee/juice.
Mr Tom said this is called "against the wind". It is in the windiest province in Vietnam.

A swiflet bird house 👆 Nests are made from solidified bird saliva secreted by the swiflets during breeding season. Loud recorded bird sounds are played from the roof to encourage the birds. The humans live in the bottom floor the birds have the rest. They enter through small holes in the walls. Some houses are worth 2-3 million dong.

Rice paper drying.

The women are beheading and gutting fish with their hands to be turned in to fish cakes/balls.

We came across a very muddy section with lots of puddles. At one stage I came off my bike in a very slushy area. Luckily I let the bike drop and leapt away therefore only soaking my shoes and sock and a few small patches of my legs. Normally I would have tried to save the bike and fallen over with it.
We rode across a 700m wooden bridge in great need of repair.

It was back on the bus for a very slow 200km drive to our destination. It took about 4 hrs. The rest of the photos are from the bus trip.

The sun was starting to set.

Finally we arrived at the Central Hotel at 5.30. Headed straight to the shower, which had very minimal pressure, to wash the mud off. Our room is very noisy and the bed feels like cement.
Our view out the bedroom window.
Dinner was a simple and delicious meal, followed by a short wander to finish the day.

Wendy is feeling better but not 100%. Yesterday Carmel and Bob became unwell and couldn't ride today.
Today it's Mark and Gregs turn. There is a coughing lurgy on our bus 🚍 and I'm guessing we're all going to get a turn.

So far we have ridden 210kms.
